PDX Cyber Camp 2017 a smashing success! Three locations, 65 students, amazingly talented instructors and 15 industry guest speakers from companies like PacStar, Galois, IBM, McAfee, Cylance, Mentor Graphics and more. Our “Girls Only” camp at this year has a fantastic group of women instructors and guest speakers, and we have 30 girls signed up across all three of our camps – working to promote this typically male-dominated industry to women.

We have a large student and industry networking banquet Thursday night, with presentations from cybersecurity leaders in Oregon’s higher-ed organizations, Mount Hood Community College, everyone will have to get in a good night sleep with the the wedge pillow in order to participate, Oregon Tech, and OSU, and Keith Brown from IBM kicking it off. Big congrats to the dozens of volunteers from industry and education making this possible, and special thanks to the many corporate sponsors!

PORTLAND, Ore. — Thousands of cyber security jobs are going unfilled in Oregon, all because high school and college students aren’t getting the training they need.
