Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC)

Development and marketing of technologies and products for transmission of classified information under the NSA CSfC program. Includes partnerships with major networking OEMS and systems integrators.  Solutions include VPN gateways, PKI infrastructure, virtual mobile infrastructure, Wi-Fi, WAN technologies and more.

Network/communications systems management software

Developed and brought to market a leading networking equipment management software package, used throughout the US military. Developed partnerships with leading network equipment manufacturers including Aruba, Cisco, Brocade, Riverbed and major DoD prime contractors including General Dynamics. Built hardware and software engineering teams. Managed the IP portfolio development, including the submission of 8+ patent applications. Managed trademark registration process.  Provided sales support including conducting demos, developing project proposals and drafting RFP responses.  Provided marketing supporting including drafting marketing materials such as datasheets, presentations, website materials and press releases.

Energy efficiency data acquisition OEM market research, new product intro

Conducted research into markets and competitors for an OEM of data acquisition product. Developed partner funnel, devised and launched email and telesales-based partner recruitment/development project.

Intelligent, remotely networked retail kiosk

Founded retail kiosk business, including all design, engineering, development and operations. Spun off into independent start-up.Developed hardware in collaboration with outsourced manufacturing. Developed GUI and cloud-hosted back-end software with hybrid on-shore and off-shore team.Created system configurations, network management infrastructure, and security policies/procedures. Landed national retail partners Whole Foods Market and Safeway. Conducted extensive PR activities, including TV and print interviews.


Smart Grid communications protocol standards

Conducted extensive research for DoE Smart Grid demonstration project, under contract with Pacific Northwest National Lab, on leading and emerging communications protocols. Developed early productization plans for transactive control technologies developed under the program.

Sustainable IT requirements  

Served as Chair for the Oregon Sustainability Center IT advisory board. OSC was an innovative project, designing a triple net-zero sustainable commercial office building in downtown Portland. Assembled industry advisory board, including participates from Cisco, HP and more.Gathered requirements and best practices for sustainable IT and generated IT guidelines.

Created requirements for a web-based partner management portal and workflow system, through SME interviews. Developed RFP and sourced solutions. Conducted technical due diligence on source vendors.


Postal-mail B2C web startup

Created software requirements ; created initial screen mock-ups; conducted a technology survey of Open Source vs. .NET enterprise solutions, and selected the platform; assisted with in-house team recruitment and secured contract software engineering services.

Global 500 consumer electronics manufacturer 

Created product roadmap for the US-based research arm of Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer; conducted in-depth analysis of patent and technology portfolio and identified productization opportunities; conceptualized six potential product lines based on the portfolio; created product roadmap, resulting in a spin-out launch effort.

B2B energy efficiency and renewable energy web portal

Provided product and planning advisory services to renewable energy portal company. Drove marketing and business development efforts; wrote business plan.
